Actors must be able to portray the ages listed in the provided character descriptions. Auditions are typically held by appointment and scheduled on a show-by-show basis. PTC is proud to have open auditions and cast based on who’s right for the part no matter their ethnicity (unless called upon in the script).

PTC is proud that our company is a supportive environment for everyone to feel safe and share and develop their creative talents, learn some new things and find new friendships. We also continue our firm commitment to having BIPOC/LGBTQ+ representation in cast, creative teams and board, along with tailoring creative processes to the needs of each show.

COVID: PTC currently has no vaccination or testing requirement, though vaccination is recommended. Face masks are optional during auditions and rehearsals. The director may ask you to remove your mask during your audition. Performances and dress rehearsals are performed without the use of face masks for actors. SYNOPSIS

While written as a delightful laugh-a-minute comedy that Jones, Hope, and Wooten are known for, The Savannah Sipping Society has depth and poignancy that touches on the true meaning of friendship and what it means when circumstances force us to adjust to the uncomfortable changes and twists and turns that life brings.

We meet four unique Southern women: Randa, Dot, Marlafaye and later, Jinx, their new “life coach.” They agree to meet on Randa’s verandah on Friday nights for cocktails. They all desire to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, as they each are going through a dramatic and difficult change in their life. They are each very different people with seemingly nothing in common, but are drawn together by fate and an impromptu happy hour! With a little encouragement, they decide it’s time to reclaim the enthusiasm for the life they’ve lost throughout the years. Over the course of six months, which are filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshment, these middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives. Together, they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment. Most importantly, they realize it’s never too late to make “old friends” new. So, raise your glass to these strong women and their fierce embrace of life and say, “Cheers!” to this joyful and surprisingly touching Jones, Hope, and Wooten comedy!

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

  • Randa Covington (stage age 49) Randa is a perfectionist and workaholic, struggling to cope with a surprise career derailment that, unfortunately, reveals that she has no life and no idea how to get one.
  • Dot Haigler (stage age 69) Dot is still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and the loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement. She also faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch — and all alone.
  • Marlafaye Mosley (stage age 57) Earthy and boisterous, Marlafaye is a good ol’ Texas gal. She has blasted into Savannah in the wake of losing her tom-cattin’ husband to a 23-year-old dental hygienist. The strength of her desire to establish a new life is equaled only by her desire to wreak a righteous revenge on her ex.
  • Jinx Jenkins (stage age 53) Also new to town, Jinx, a spunky ball of fire, offers her services as a much-needed life coach for these women. However, blinded by her determination and efforts to get their lives on track, she overlooks the fact that she’s the one most in need of sage advice.
  • Randa’s Grandmother (non-speaking role; stage age 81) Grandmother of Randa who appears and dies. Elegant matriarch of powerful, southern family.
